This week, we issued the Capacity Market Demand Forecast Templates for you to complete and submit your demand forecast for the 2025/26 Delivery Year.

Under the Electricity Capacity (Supplier Payment etc.) Regulations 2014, Suppliers are required to forecast their chargeable demand for periods of high demand, which is 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Working Days, from November to February for the 2025/26 Delivery Year. These forecasts are used to calculate Suppliers’ monthly Capacity Market Supplier Charges and monthly Credit Cover requirements for the upcoming Delivery Year.

How do I submit my demand forecast?

On 1 May 2025, you will receive an automated email from our Settlement System containing:

  • A CSV forecast template: Complete this by entering a demand figure for each of the upcoming peak months (to three decimal places). Save and attach the completed template to your reply to our Service Desk.
  • Supporting instructions (PDF): This document includes your actual peak demands for the previous two Delivery Years (where available) and further guidance on completing your forecast.

Reminder emails will be sent to Primary and Company email addresses at the following intervals before the 1 June 2025 deadline:

  • 7 working days
  • 2 working days
  • 1 working day

When submitting your completed CSV forecast template, we ask you to please include any supporting commentary within your reply to the Service Desk.

Reminder for Suppliers with EII Customers

From 1 April 2024, the Capacity Market was included in the Energy Intensive Industries (EII) Exemption. Following this change, demand forecasts must now reflect chargeable values — that is, gross demand minus any EII exemptions. It is essential that Suppliers work closely with their EII customers to accurately forecast demand for periods of high-demand, ensuring that EII exemptions are subtracted from Suppliers gross demand.

More information about this change is available here: Changes to Energy Intensive Industries Exemptions.
